Here is a GREAT article comparing NT server to Linux w/ lots of personal experiences included.

http://www.osopinion.com/Opinions/JoycePark/JoycePark1.html

Highlights:

Total cost (including hardware and tech support)
MS BackOffice SBS $5188
Red Hat Linux 6.0 $610

"Due to my own experience, I harbor serious doubts about the ability of the average non-technical small business owner or workgroup leader to easily use BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0 without the assistance of a highly-skilled sysadmin... this could be an expensive and frustrating mistake for real-world small business owners..."

"In contrast to published accounts insinuating otherwise, I found Linux to be easy to learn and fun to work with, as well as the lowest-cost option"

a very good read

Great article geekd. I know there's some NT cohort out there though that is organizing a discredit as we speak!

Nothing like a good old-fashioned mud-slinging match eh. Although one wonders why nobody has tried NT vs BSD, maybe even a detuned BSD system beats NT eh? http://discussions.linuxplanet.com//smile.gif
