i just installed Mandrake 8.1 on my old computer, which is networked with my main computer, a computer running windoze XP. For some reason, it doesnt autoconfig for the net, and so i am unable to connect. my ip should be 24.101.xx.xx but it says 192.xx.xx.xx. I was just wondering how i would go about fixing my ip so i would have 2 compters with the ability to connect to the net.

192.168.0.x is the Microsoft home network. You can go into Netconf and change the IP Address. If you're using XP on a home network with internet connection sharing through the XP box you would want the XP box to have 2 NIC cards. The first would be set to the IP Address provided by your ISP. The second IP Address should be set to 192.168.0.1 and the Linux box should be set to 192.168.0.whatever.
