just wondering if it's possible to "throttle" or limit the bandwidth of a c particular connection running through a firewall...

i didn't see anything like this in my firewalls book, nor could i find anything about it on google...

what i'm looking for really is a way to limit the download/upload speeds coming from one computer on the network. i'm sure that there HAS to be something like this, even if it's an external application

It's called squid. Don't know about the upload, but you sure can put a hurting on the downloader inside your network!! ;)

Try: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/Adv-Routing-HOWTO

See: Section 9. Using Class Based Queueing for bandwidth management

It looks a little incomplete, anybody got a link to some better docs??
