This should be a simple question. How can I enable routing on my home network of three computers? One is running Red Hat Linux 7.0 (the router) and the other two are running Windows.

I looked up a tutorial on this site and it said to use ipautofw. I edited everything just like they said, except that I used my own IPs of course. The other machines on the network can ping the Linux machine - so that's a good start - but they can't access anything else.

What can I do? Thank you!

Im sorry but i haven't stopped by to help. I realy wish i could but im having similar problems as you are having. First im running RedHat 6.2 and i have read the same as you in the NHF's but i dont see ipautofw in my system or on the cd. I also cant find it in a search. So, my question to you would be where can i get it?

check out: http://www.fandelem.com/nhf.html

a few sections down.. in the PMFirewall section (under additional tricks&solutions), I have how you can get ipmasqadm and how to just link it up just like ipchains..

I checked out that tutorial. It was very good. I'm still unable to get the netork up and running though. I put a copy of /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall that I made by following the tutorial up on my web server. If someone would be kind enough to look at it and tell me what I could do differently, that would be great!! It's at <a href="http://www.nitewaryr.com/rc.firewall.html">www.nitewaryr.com/rc.firewall.html</a>. Thank you!

I really recommend PMFirewall as well. It isn't what you think - it's basically a configure-script to add a bunch of ipchains rulesets and then it creates a .conf file that you can add new rules and remove them, etc.. check out that link I posted earlier - I go through in detail on how to set it up..

I followed the tutorial at www.fandelem.com/nhf.html (http://www.fandelem.com/nhf.html) and all is good. If you go step by step then there shouldnt be a problem. It is a well written and works great.
