i'm looking for information about varations of partitions.

already i have:

1: unknown cyl 1->1
2: os/2bootmgr cyl 2->8
3: dos16 cyl 9->275 (of 1024)

as primary partitions.

now i'm trying to install linux redhat and cannot create a swap partition and a system partition, because i've run out of primarys.

i keep reading about the use of the other types of partitions and some theory about the possibality of added partitions beyond the primary four(possibably 64 and beyond. UNC.edu)

mostly the topic gets alittle out of hand and into some highly technicial info.

anybody have personal experience using the extended and logical, any websites, advice, ect... .

thanx

Not much more to say other than disk druid probably won't do it for you, you'll have to use the linux version of fdisk and create a new logical partition instead of a primary one. It definitely works though.
