on my all linux lan, I need to network like the microsoft networkneighbourhood.

using redhat 6.2 I tried nfs but got some complications: clntudp_create: RPC: Program not registered.....when I showmounts.

I only have enough effort left, to get me through the fixing of nfs, or installing samba. Not both.

Wich one do you think it should be?

Samba is supposed to be fairly easy to setup and configure. There's even a NHF on Samba and plenty of help on the web.

Unfortunately I dont know how to fix NFS for you, as I have finally just got it working myself. I have a win/linux mix on my netwoyrk, so I have samba running on my mandrake server. I tried connecting to my server with samba and it gave me a FTP like interface...not exactly what I wanted...and I dont think that's what you want either...

So I had to setup NFS, and now after mounting the shared folder shows up as a mounted drive on my machine...

So I think you want NFS to get fixed...I could be wrong afterall though however...
