I post this, b'cos no one of the post found contained exactly the solution I need.

Problem: want to connect my linux-laptop to other boxes (both linux and windoze) in order to exchange files and share printer. I do NOT wont to make the laptop a terminal, it shall work as it does stand-alone, but exchange data with the other box.
plz. DON'T tell me that nullmodem sucks and is too slow, etc. i know that... excuse if this may sound rude but i asked 4 help in several other forums before, and guess how often i was told that.
but since it is a laptop without lan built-in
the only way to est a eth connection 'd be to buy a pcmcia-lan card. this is imho too expensive for occasionally connections.
the slow nullmodem 'd be enough.

thx in advance, Freeshadow.

Sorry, having a hard time understanding your style of English, so I'll just say, go ahead and get the nullmodem cable and use that. Would be cheaper than any other solution.

Is this what you are looking for?
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Serial-Laplink-HOWTO/index.html

Very easy to find...

that IS exactly what I have been looking 4.
I should have checked for "laplink" instead of "nullmodem" http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif (me-stupid) http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

it even covers problems ; which i postponed
to solve later. great.

THX a lot for wasting your time to answer a VERY stupid request (as I see now).
Well my problem wasn't RTFM, but FIND it. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks again.
