i set up ipx by ipx_configure --auto_interface=on --auto_primary=on
below is the log from /var/log/messages
Jan 8 17:28:49 armed kernel: NET4: Linux IPX 0.38 for NET4.0
Jan 8 17:28:49 armed kernel: IPX Portions Copyright (c) 1995 Caldera, Inc.

then i run slist. below is the error that i got:

slist: Server not found (0x8847) in ncp_open

what's wrong?

thank you

Have you checked what ncp_open is? A script? If so, then I suspect you are trying to login to a server that does not exist etc.

What distro? I use Caldera's eDesktop 2.4 which comes with IPX support and Netware Client and have no problems with my Netware connectability.

Sounds to me like you are not actually seeing the tree, that or the tree is present but you have an invalid server specified.

i'm using mandrake 7.2. It works before when I use mandrake 7.1

I don't think ncp_open is a script. it seems to be the program's function.

i can connect to the netware network when i boot to windows, but when i'm in linux, this doesn't work.

i've read the ipx-howto, but doesn't explain this error http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif

anyone encounter this kind of errors?

May be a stupid question, but did you logon first?

i think you have to either log on into the tree or map a network drive (which will then ask for your authentication).

the way i see it is that the slist command cannot see or access the tree because it has not been authenticated, and thus ncp_open has no read rights.

Actually what I meant by logon was to Netware. nwlogon usually.

Just in case your interested, here is a link to the Caldera Netware documentation.
