Setup XP as a proxy however you must, and configure the SuSE box to use it. If you can do that without having to buy an upgrade pack and a new license, that is.

u can use Internet sharing option in the Network properties. this basically NATs with 192.168.0.1 as the IP address of internal network card. Set this as gateway in ur linux machine. that would do.

sorry guys, i should've explained better. gomenasai!

we have 2 machines, one which is my brother's (XP) and mine (SuSE 7.3, win 98SE and 2000).

the xp box is the gateway, which is my brother's machine and he has the connection. XP is already setup to share the connection and "windoze" 98 and 2000 can connect to it with no worries but i'm not sure how to get linux to use the xp box as the connection. he is set to 192.168.1.140 but i'm not sure about some of these other options. would you be able to help me out there?

cheers guys! ;)

Set the default gateway to his xp box, and use the same dns servers he is using (add them to /etc/resolv.conf) Those are the main things, what other settings do you need?
