OK.. So I'm running the cookie cutter MASQ firewall thing on my linux box in order to share my cable connection.
My problem is that one of my buddies elsewhere in the nation has been IP banned from a certain server because someone on his ISP ticked the server off so much that the admin banned the whole range of IPs.
Its just a connection to an IRC server that we use for group meetings for various things.
My plan is to use my linux box to "masquerade" his connection to the IRC server.
You know, connect to my computer on port x and the connection is routed to port 6667 on the IRC server as if it were coming from my firewall IP instead of his banned IP range. And all traffic relating to that connection would be directed back to his IP via my linux box.
Is this doable? It sounds doable to me.
