Ok, I have been playing with Samba for about a week now and its almost working perfect. Let me give you my setup:

Linksys router sharing Cable net b/n 3 boxes:

WIN98---is a win98 machine with a user/pass of WIN98/******

Rick---is a Win2k machine with a user/pass of rick420/*******

High-on-Linux.net---is my Mandrake 8.1 box (full domain name b/c thats my domain name and this box is also a mail server). I have user/passes exactly the same on here for WIN98, and rick420.

I did the smbpasswd -a for both users.

Now, from Mandrake I can get into the Win98 and Win2k shares no problem using Linneighborhood. But from Win2k or Win98 I cant get into my Linux share. I can see the box and its listed as High-on-Linux (no .net) and I can double click it and see the shared folder which I named Linux (its /home/rick420/Downloads) but when I click on it I get : Network Path \\High-on-Linux\Linux not found.

I cant figure out what I am doing wrong here. Any ideas?

Also the Win98 box has a shared printer called EPSON. I can see it thru Samba, but using the printtool in Mandrake theres no driver for it. Its an Epson Stylus C80. Can/How do I get it working thru samba. I read something about smbprint, but didnt really understand it. Thanks for any help!

Change permissions on the directory so that others have execute and read rights. Next look in your smb.conf file listing for the directory and double check everything.
