I got a book about a year ago that is awsome. I got me out of the dark of the deeper networkings of linux

"LINUX ADMINISTRATION A beginner's Guide" by Steve Shah

It goes into Installing and configuring linux kernels

Intergrating linux into NT networks

Configuring Internet, Intranet, DNS, POP, SSSH, NFS, LPD, DHCP

Implementing network technologies like IP masquerading, firewalling, routing

You can get more info @ www.osborne.com (http://www.osborne.com) or go where i found it @ Barnes & Noble for around $40 (when I got it a year ago)

I still use it to this day to freshen up or when I get stuck. Long nites and a lot of caffiene tend to wear on the old brain after a while.

Hope it helps

There's the posts here at Linuxnewbie, the NHF's on Networking, the HOW-TO's installed on your system (/usr/docs), the HOW-TO's and more at www.linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org) ,complete free online books at Informit http://infobase.informit.com/linux/ ,Oreilly http://oreilly.linux.com/ ,cablemodem info (which is similar to DSL) http://www.cablemodeminfo.com/linbasics.x.html-ssi

I could go on and on.

Some here suggest doing a google search for networking linux or maybe dsl linux.

The resouces available on the web are mind boggleing.

Well, I live in the NY Metro area, and I like money and stuff, and I have a Linux networking lab at home with a dsl connection, but I gotta say that:

A) if you don't know networking, how do you know that whoever teaches you 'has to know dsl'?

B) Do you mean you have to know how the technology 'dsl' works, or how to connect a lan to it and all that stuff?

C) If you think yer going to know it overnight because you took a crash course, you're wrong - horribly wrong. You learn by doing, not by someone doing it in front of you once or twice.

That in mind, my email is on my profile.

I think embsys only wants to be contacted through his email address and will not be back here for responses.
