Removing LILO boot

Ok, I need to format the drive that I have containing Linux, and I'm wondering how exactly do I go about it? =) (For instance, how do u get rid of LILO boot)

most times LILO can be removed by booting to DOS and typing fdisk /mbr

for formatting chuck a boot disk in, boot to DOS, go into FDISK and remove the linux partition, create a new DOS one and then format it.
