rlogin not accepted

both red hat 6.2 out of the box, nics working fine
pings ok, but I can't get rlogin to work is there a service that I must start on the client box

I believe login utilities are controlled via inetd (/etc/inetd.conf). It is highly recommended NOT to use rlogin because of its lack of security. SSH is a much more popular and safer option. http://www.ssh.com
