Hello everyone!
Which is the easiest way to remote-control my Linux computer from my Win2k computer?
I've tried with VNC but I couldn't connect to Linux from Win2k, the otherway worked just fine (from Linux to Win2k.)
I'm running Red-Hat Linux 6.2 with the PMFirewall for IP Masquerading, Firewall and stuff like that.
Is there any certain port that VNC uses other than 5900?
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards

Vnc server doesnt need/use 5900/5901. It uses 5800 numbered ports. If you start 1 vncserver for user bob it will be on port 5801. If you start another at the same time for user dave, it will be on port 5802 and so on up the line. When you start vncserver via ssh, terminal or however, it will tell you what number it is. Add that number to the end of 580 and you good to go.
Please read this thread for a few tips on getting gnome/kde working with vncserver. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=13&t=004922
Also, you might want to look into webmin ( www.webmin.com (http://www.webmin.com) ) as for configuring/controling the system remoteley from your browser on/over the internet. id suggest getting SSL to work with webmin also. Webmin is a very very cool tool for linux. Its also free and easy as hell to install.

Hmmm... I've never needed anything more than a command line!

Thank you both for some great information.
I'll get right to it and hopefully this time I will get VNC to work.
Once again, thank you very much!
