I have been able to get a Linux box running Red Hat 7.1 setup successfully except for networking it to my WIN98 machines and through a 3com DSL router to the Internet. I know the DNS names and IP, the router internal IP, the netmask, and internal IP of what the linux box should be. I ma using an older NE2000 ISA Ethernet card which Red Hat recognizes and says that it configures the drivers for. I have tried to configure it under a console (which I am still learning to use), under GNOME, and KDE. I would prefer to learn how to use TCP/IP under KDE and browse the Internet. Any help you can give for a stuck newbie would be great.

hello
I prefer to set networking from console. If you're using redhat, you can try netconf.
I Always prefer setting through console. Have a nice browsing ! :)

I was not able to get networking to work using Gnome, I have to use the command line and vi some files. I'll try to find the HOWTO I used to help get this setup.
Is the Linux box going to be hosting the internet to the Windows machines? If so, you will definatly want the HOWTO I used.
I think you can find it at linuxdoc.org under Mini-HOWTOs called Home Networking.

Thanks for the advice/help, especially on resources for help and guides. I was able to get networking going. After a few tweaks to the configuration under KDE's network tool, and the big kicker of getting the bios setting for "other" OS, it started working well. :)
