wtf is irlan0? RedHat seems to keep throwing it in my face

Hope i got your attention.I don't mean to seem crude, but i am kinda annoyed. If you take a look at my previous post, you will see that i am unable to add eth0. I realized that upon installation of RH 7.1, when i first accessed netcfg, an interface known as "irlan0" was already detected along with my local interface. I can't seem to find any info on this device anywhere, but i sense that it's related to my ethernet pc card somehow...don't ask me, i'm a newbie :)
Anyways, if there are any seasoned Red Hat 7.1 Linux experts out there who are willing to lend a helping hand to a networking-fool, by all means reply to this entertaining topic :0P

It's not necessarily a Redhat thing.
irlan0 is an infra-red (irDA/wireless) device interface. Some motherboards come with built-in support for it, and it seems to have some connection (no pun) and/or conflict with eth0. Do a Google (http://www.google.com) search for the keyword "irlan0" for more info.
