I am using Mandrake 7.2 in a partition on a computer also having Windows ME. I use ICS to connect to 2 other computers. I have enabled ICS but Mandrake tells me that because I'm behind a firewall I'll need to manually configure the connection. Would someone suggest how I might so this. I've tried to put in the global IP address for the network but it didn't work.

the other pc's on the LAN, whether linux or winders, should setup tcp/ip for dhcp (get an ip address automatically)
the pc with ICS acts as a dhcp server and will assign ip addresses to the other pc's on you LAN, then provide a path to the ICS pc's internet connection

I've already done that. The ICS works well with Windows. However, despite the fact that I can download email on Linux, I can't browse on the client machines. I keep getting a message that my proxy server can't be found or isn't valid. Any ideas??

Don't use proxy settings. You don't have a proxy server on. Microsoft ICS is a NAT server (don't worry, it's better).

as ryeker says, you don't use a proxy with ICS, if you are getting an ip address from ICS, then is should be 192.168.0.x so you should be able to ping the ICS box at 192.168.0.1 (ICS forces the winders box to this ip when you turn it on), if you can't ping then see if you have a network problem on the linux box

Thanks everyone for your help. Unfortunately, ICS will not work without my entering a proxy server on my host and client machines. I've tried all sorts of combinations on the client machines but nothing is working. If I don't enter a proxy I get a message from my ISP telling me to do so. when I enter the proxy I can't surf. Frustrating !!
