Default FTP server software

Hi there:

I've never actually run an ftp server on my Linux system. I don't know the name of any common FTP server programs. Unlike Apache, which I have had occasion to use. LOL - I have no doubt that there are a number of you who will find my lack of knowledge amusing. :-) I guess I'm a little amused myself.

It's not the configuration or the maintenance of a server that I need help with (Plenty of experience in WinNT & 2K) . . .just the name of the software.

wu-ftpd and proftpd are the two most common ftp servers.

proftpd is the one that most people around here will reccomend.
