OK, I've read the how-to, the man pages, and searched the forum here, but I can't get this darn box (RH 6.0) to connect to nothin'! I can't ping other hosts via IP address, and I can't access the NetWare server. All the tools are in place, the cables are good, the IP addresses are set, the IPX configuration is in place...and yet no connectivity. Any suggestions?

You can't ping the other servers/systems?
Can you ping your loopback?
You might try adding the other hosts into the hosts file.
Do you have tcpdump? If so have you used it to take a *look* at the wire traffic and see if anything obvious glares out at ya?

I can ping myself with 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.x.x. I can't ping anything else. I've added routes to the routing table. I don't know the host names (for reasons I won't explain, I have to do this semi-covertly) - scratch that, I know ONE host name, but not its IP address...and I can't ping this box from other functioning boxes either.

I've been having problems getting a RH6.2 box on a Netware TCP/IP network. I haven't tried it in a few days. I'm going to keep messing with it though. I think i can ping other computers on the network, but not the server!! ahhhh

What protocol is your network using, TCP/IP or IPX?

Actually, it's a mixed network. We use TCP/IP to get Net connections over the LAN, and IPX/SPX locally. That adds to the confusion for me.

A bit more research done and info digested. Now the big question is, does anyone know how to determine an IPX network number without touching the server itself?
