I just recently installed a Linksys 4 port router on my home network to connect several computers through my DSL connection.

Prior I had all computers connecting to the internet through my Win2k machine and analogx proxy. All computers worked fine.

Now that I added the Linksys router I can get my Win2k and Win 98 machines to access the internet but not the Mandrake. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

I have taken out the IP address and subnet mask and selected DHCP. I have also removed the gateway address. This duplicates how the Win boxes are configured.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Scott

Watch the system boot up. Make sure dhcpd gets an IP. You can also manually specify the IP address. Find out the IP of the router/gateway, and put all that in.

Thanks for the response...I actually figured it out. Believe it or not, you actually have to have DHCP-client installed...

What a DORK I am...

Hey could you please list what it took to get your linux box to play nice with your Linksys router? I have one as well... and no one can seem to be able to get those to to talk. We're about completely insane now.

Thanks

Borric

All I did was make sure that my ethernet card was working properly and installed DHCP client on the Linux box.

What are you having problems with? Are you able to get to the router config page at 192.168.1.1 in your browser?
