ok I've spent the last week searching through the forums here, scouring the general web, and looking through countless help files. I now have debian installed(apt-get is great!) I have implemented ipchains and have setup my ADSL connection. I have a domain name registered and with the help of centralinfo.net, I can get to my box via telnet using the following:
telnet mydomain.com
this is great... but there is one more little thing. I'm looking to set my mail server in debian and according to the install, there is a setup program that will walk me through the setup. I thought I should ask this before I start configuring and get stuck. As it stands right now, the only file on my entire computer that contains "mydomain.com" hardcoded is the script that updates my IP to centralinfo.net
how will exim know that my domain name is "mydomain.com" when it sends out email??? Should that be in a file somewhere?? I'm looking at things like /etc/hosts or /etc/hostname but those contain my host name.
thanks...
