i belive if you pick up any NIC it has good chances at working, but what i did is get an SMC eznet, because it included a copy of TruboLinux, so i knew that it would work with linux.

Cards using the ne2k-pci module (eg realtek 8029) are very compatible with linux. Ive got a few of them and had no problems

try a netgear card.

I got three 310's in my house and 2 of the boxes are running linux. One 24/7. They work great and the module comes with the linux kernel.
