configuring a wireless internet connection

can any one help me with how to configure my mandrake 8.1 server to work with a wireless internet connection or a vsat internet connection, i tried it and found that i could ping my ip, dns and gateway, but ws not connected to the internet, my explorer could not open an internet page. could some one rescue me?

Since you can ping your gateway, at a command prompt type:
route -n

is the gateway set?
If yes, can you ping by ip, but not by name?
