I have a RedHat 7.2 and a WIN95. I would like to configure the linux box to authenticate users login from WIN95.
I configured the SWAT
security = DOMAIN
Domain Master = True
I can view the Linux server from the network neighborhood from the WIN95 and set Microsoft networking in the WIN95 to log to a domain.
But when I restarted the WIN95 computer and tried to use the Microsoft Networking to logon to the domain. I always get the "No domain server was available to validate your password" response message.
Please help :confused:
Just a thought (which might be off-base):
Have you configured C:\windows\hosts and C:\windows\lmhosts? If not, there are two sample files in the Windows directory which you can use as templates. They are hosts.sam and lmhosts.sam (the .sam is for "sample"), and they contain some sparse comments about their purpose and usage. If you edit these files to use as the real files, you must save them as plain text. They also need to be named "hosts" and "lmhosts" exactly, so you'll have to go back and strip the ".txt" extension from the filenames.
Hope this is of some help...
P.S.: the above is true of Windows 98, but I don't have a machine that I can use to verify that Win95 works the same way.
