My university has wireless networking in my dorm and the student center. You have to register a mac address with the server to obtain DHCP info. Anyhoo. I've been wrestling with this thing for about 5 weeks now, trying to get Linux to pick up the network like Windows 2000 does (I'm dual-booting). Finally, tonight, I got it working. (I'm posting from Mozilla 0.9.4 now.)
I'm running Slack 8 w/ kernel 2.4.5.
i82365 is the name of the module the PCMCIA slot uses. I had to use the irq_mode=0 option to get the adapter to work right. I think the problem was that this comp has *no* ISA slots and the default mode is an ISA-compatible mode. At any rate, I'm so happy I could kiss a penguin!
well, maybe not quite *that* happy. I'm still looking for a way to access my campus mail (blasted Exchange server!) from Linux without using the webmail. Any ideas? Or should this be my first major programming project? (fetchmail for exchange?)
