I had a problem with my removable drives be locked, even for the root, in Drake 8.2. So to fix this, I opened the control center and under Mount Points and select the offending device. Go the options section for that device and change the mount method from supermount (you must manually uncheck this) to user. Save the fstab file and reboot. Now if you wish to eject a CD or Zip disk, you must manually unmount it. For example
"umount /mnt/cdrom2" unmounts the cdrom drive named cdrom2. In order to access a drive, you must manually mount it, like this:
"mount /mnt/cdrom2"

Hope this helps someone.
