I'm running FreeBSD 4.5. I have a Linksys Etherfast Pro 10/100 ethernet card, using the dc driver. I know the hardware's good, because I get fast speeds in Win98 and Linux on the same box.
It's running through a Win98 box's ICS connection, but I know it's good, as I mentioned it works in any other OS/machine.
That makes me think it's something in my install. Generally, is there anything I can do to speed up the connection? Are there any daemon processes that I can disable to perhaps speed this up?
The scenario is this: Just plain web page surfing, one page at a time. I have routed and sshd running, but that's it, as far as I know.
Any help on this would be appreciated, as I am somewhat of a newbie in FreeBSD.
Also, forgive me if I'm vague-- any needed info will promptly be provided.
