I've been following the story on Lindows for a little while now, and just wondered if anyone here has used the 'Insider' release and what people think about it.

Dizzy Alex Cavnar, aka alc6379 06-09-2002, 02:05 AM I just noticed that nobody's replied to this post, and it's been up for a while... I personally haven't used it. Frankly, I see no point in paying $99 or whatever the price is for the features Lindows is supposedly going to provide. If you want an Linux OS to run like Windows, Check out Redmond/Lycoris Linux. I think it's RedHat compatible (it uses RPMs.) and I almost mistook it for Windows when I logged in- they had done such a bang-up job to make it look like Windows XP-- they even had the grass background! In terms of bringing usability to Linux, I think RedHat, SuSE, Mandrake, and Lycoris have been doing a good enough job. RedHat, Mandrake, and Lycoris, and plenty of others I'm sure, have been doing a good enough job without taking up a Windows-like licensing scheme to make their product work. justlinux.com
