Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Solaris Installation
Ok, so i've downloaded Solaris 8 from Sun. Now, whats the next step. With Linux it was a simple case of creating a bootdisk and making sure there was a ext2 partition. Had a quick browse through the newly burnt CDs, but no luck in finding any installation instructions.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Indy
When I installed Solaris 8 for i386, the CD I had was bootable. The rest of the install was very straightforward.
Problem is I have a DVD-ROM drive, and they are not bootable.
Also, do I need to partition my harddrive? If so, under what format? I have Linux MD8.1 running already.

First you need to make a boot partion, then the solaris part. Check the docs out here, although not extremely helpful, I bought a book instead.
