I'm using an x86 platform that has no conflicts with the hardware (I already checked the HCL and the devices are definitely supported-without patches). When I first installed Solaris 8 10/01, the Sun Boot Manager popped-up. So, I removed the Sun Boot loader but now I cannot boot up Solaris except with either the Install or Disk 1 CD. I changed the Auto-Boot settings to default to the hdd but it is not saving the request (this is before any root profile is needed).
How do I get Solaris to boot from the hdd and not the CD? Note: this is a multi-boot 'puter so I use System Commander 7.03 for handling all the OSes.
