Aparently not. You can get the BeOS 5.04 Developer Edition here. (http://www.beosonline.com/index.php?seite=Download)

Nice! Thanks for the link, I will have to try it out again. I always did like BeOS, but the lack of software caused some boredom... They did have some good basic stuff, hopefully now they have more! It's perfect for a laptop, which I haven't tried to put it on, yet.

I wonder if it can be installed with vmware...

Check out www.openbeos.org (http://www.openbeos.org) if you want to help keep BeOS (in its open source incarnation, OpenBeOS) alive longer!

I'm gonna try this out! 5.0 didn't support my video card and I didn't really feel like messing around with it in a 640x480 greyscale mode....

This is some good news! BeOS was the OS I enjoyed using the most during the short time I had it installed. It didn't have the software I needed at the time, then it died away. Now that I've got more time (& more computers) I'll have to give it another whirl.

what is so great about BeOS?
all I know is that i is supposedly good for A/V stuff, but Linux does all that fine. I also read there is no intention to have DVD support. In an OS internded for A/V-type stuff, what is up with that?

Is there a hardware compatibility list? The last version of BeOS I tried wouldn't accept my video card or network card. Also, is there an installer for Linux or FreeBSD? I'm on 28k and would prefer not to download a big iso.

what's the point of having a Developer's Edition for an OS that isn't being developed?

I really want that, but it would take me about 18 hours to download. The joy of 28k...
