HP-UX and a PCL network printer

I have at hand a Canon LaserClass 3175 and a HP-UX system. Basically, the Canon only uses the LPD service for printing, on port 515. I have a remote port setup, can print to it, but the output is not parsed. I need a default PCL 5e or 6 filter.

Anyone have any luck with this combo in the past?

OK, I got this far: can't set it up as a remote printer, needs to be a network printer. Problem is, every time we try to set it up as a network printer, JetAdmin takes over. It will not allow us to configure the device because it is not supported by the version of HP-UX.

I need to find a way around using Jet Admin to setup the printer. Even trying through SAM makes the JetAdmin pop up. Any ideas?

Solved my own prob. HP hates Canon....and I'll leave it at that....
