NetBSD vs FreeBSD vs OpenBSD, I had to laugh at some of the statements. I mean, damn, people took this stuff seriously if your opinion over one OS is different from theirs. lol It was a nice stroll back in time.

I'm guessing you're talking about the big "GnuVince and freebsd vs jemfinch" thing?

That was one of them that I remembered vividly. There were others too but the one you mentioned went from comparing the *BSD's to taking each others statements and tearing them apart. I'm glad people get into this stuff or else there would be no love for it.

Yeah. I also remember, me and freebsd had had the best stability with NetBSD, then FreeBSD and finally OpenBSD. We were telling jemfinch to at least try them to see for himself and he never did. Sure FreeBSD is VERY stable, but in college, I installed all the BSD's on a spare machine: OpenBSD crashed a lot, FreeBSD twice and NetBSD never did. There was a weird piece of hardware in it, so it may explain the crashes, because normally they don't crash, but NetBSD was still the most stable of the gang.

That was one of my main reasons for going with NetBSD. Since you all pointed out the "kernel-panic" issue with OpenBSD, it made me choose between Free and Net. I went with Net. The folks on #netbsd on EFnet are pretty cool when it comes to helping out with info. They don't sit in a channel and just bash all the people who ask questions like another channel I know of. People on just about any irc channel inevitably wind up as a bunch of a**holes. Is it really that much of a power trip?
