Hey guys, I was wondering if it is possible to get a sound blaster live to work in any of the *BSD (OpenBSD preferably). I know there are the drivers on the creative labs web site but I don't know how or if they'd work under any of the *BSD's. Thanks!

I'm not sure about OpenBSD. But under FreeBSD, getting the sound sard to work usualy requires a recompile of the kernel.

Some Sound Blaster cards have issues too. Creative switched the chipsets in some of them, and kept selling them under the same name. So a driver that works for one card, might not work on another.

Here is the list of supported hardware for FreeBSD (sound cards are listed near the bottom); http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO_8859-1/books/handbook/install-hw.html

And here is instructions on adding sound support; http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO_8859-1/books/handbook/sound.html

Hope that helps.
