I just installed BeOS PE. I'm trying to setup the networking. I'm behind a Linux IP masquerading firewall which is attached to a cable modem. So I set networking the same as it was in Win95:

IP: 192.168.0.3
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Primary DNS: address given by ISP
Secondary DNS: address given by ISP

I can ping other boxes on the LAN, so I'm sure the nic is working properly.

However, when I try to access the internet, it goes to (not through) my gateway. For instance, www.be.com (http://www.be.com) takes me to my webserver (192.168.0.1). When I try to telnet to school, I end up on my server (192.168.0.1).

I've never seen this type of behavior before. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok. COrrect me if I am wrong, but shouldn't you set your primary DNS to the IP of your Linux box as well as the default gateway and leave your secondary DNS blank? I think if you tried to do this you might have a little more success.

If I was running my own DNS server that would make sense. I fixed the problem by leaving the domain field blank in the BeOS network config.
