Hello-

Lets see.. I have tar & zipped files and can't unpack them. Tar -xvzf doesn't recognize "-z" and gzip isn't on the system. Can't get ftp access to the sunfreeware version of gzip and the unpacked version I loaded on from a floppy won't compile; it starts and then errors out. I can't load a tar/zipped file because tar won't unpack with -z and gzip's not there to do its job. How the heck do I get out of this cruel loop?

You can also go to www.gzip.org (http://www.gzip.org) and get the binaries in a .tar file. Just for future reference. Also, the Solaris version of tar does not support the 'z' option for a tar.gz file.
