4 hours ago I was drawn to this mysterious form called linux. I have an imac, and have checked out many sites. My trouble is that I reboot my computer and it seems like I am entering in the incorrect partition number of my system folder. It feels like I've missed something simple, but I have no idea. I make sure the number in linuxchooser is the same as the booting request, but I have no idea what the partition number of my system folder is...How can this be discovered? I am inches away from starting, but this small hitch seems to be holding me back...
Thanks in advance, BobbytheBrave

Wish I could help you, but I have NO IDEA what/how macs operate hardware-wise...
Sorry.

I'm a bit suprised, and concerned, that you managed to get through the install process without knowing what partitions you've got... Linux installers must've advanced a bit since I tried one!
Anyhow, one answer to your question is: use pdisk, it's a Mac (and Linux) program that is surely included somewhere on your installation disk. It will display your partition map (just be careful not to modify it by accident!)
Good luck!

You probably forgot to remember the name of the root partition. If you have pdisk, launch it and type L. That will show all of your partitions. Lookd for the root partition. It will be something like hda9. I use bootx and know nothing about Yaboot.
