I had grown used to my clunky xset m settings (7 3) in X after having used it for long periods of time, but a couple days ago, I returned to Win98 to do some Video Editing and in windows, the accel/threshold are just perfect because of the Logitech drivers. So when I returned to linux, I started getting wrist pains from getting used to the windows settings.

I toyed around with the xset m setting for hours trying to match them to windows', but it's just impossible!

I searched on freshmeat.net to look whether if there was a program to "smooth" mouse movements in X...but no luck.

I'm at 1280x1024 btw and I was wondering if there was another way to adjust the mouse settings so they're smooth in X. Or maybe give me your xset m settings (if you have a similar resolution) so I can test them.

TIA :D

Ah ha! I just read in another post that there was an option in the XFree86 config file to adjust the mouse resolution! Where and how would I go abouts doing that?

I noticed that whacky mouse in iceWM. Man it was challenging just to get that sucker to close a window. I didn't have that problem in any other window manager so I figured the .Xinitrc script would hold the key. I just put a # in front of that line:
xset m 7 3
and that calmed that mouse down!!
