non-theme related backgrounds in E

I dropped backgrounds in "~/.enlightenment/backgrounds" and in "/usr/X11R6/share/enlightenment/themes/themeIamusing/backgrounds/images" and they didn't show up in the background settings dialog. So then I stumbled across the file "/usr/X11R6/share/enlighenment/themes/themeIamusing/backgrounds/backgrounds.cfg" and added entries for the .jpg's using the convention in that file... didn't work either.

Can someone shed some light on this?

~/.enlightenment/backrounds is the correct place for extra background images. I have never had any problem using images stored there, so I dont really know what to tell you ... sorry. :(
