First off: The newest IceWM 1.8.6 is a beauty and fast a ever.
I just don't feel comfy putting up a background .xpm or .jpg or something else 'cuz starting takes forever.
And don't even get me started on moving transparent ATerms! FUGGLY!
Can anyone else corroborate this for me?
It's a P200MMX /w 64MB EDO.
I never use big background images. They always seem to consume resources. A simple, tiled patern is my choice. Looks nice, is not distracting and does not eat resources.

No it's not just you. I have also noticed a slowdown in load times when Ice is used with a large background image. Then I switched to Blackbox . . . had a change of heart and now use Ice with drab, monochrome backgrounds. Function over form in this case.

'zactly what I've always done.
BTW, does anyone know another transparent 'term that renders the background faster?
I mean besides Eterm 0.8.10 and Aterm 0.4.0? These 2 are too slow to "fool" the eye that it's transparent (on my box atleast).
