hi,

being a newbie, im not sure what i did to my X, but its not working properly.

i can remember clicking on an icon for TrueType somewhere, *just to see what would happen*

after that X wouldnt start, saying it couldnt find font /unix:7000 and coundnt find "fixed" font. i looked in XF86Config and XF86Config-4 and found the lines:
fontpath= /unix:7000
fontpath= /...../fonts/truetype

looking at the proper directories i couldnt see these dirs so i commented the lines out. this got x started, but when i reboot i get the message;
stopping x fonts server [failed]
...
stopping lpd [failed]

also, the mouse misbehaves sometimes

i think i need to have a valid fontpath, but im not sure what it should be. i have many dirs in my fonts dir, should it be one/all of these

thanks in advance
darren

You could try the TrueType Font NHF provided here to see if that fixes the problem.

Also plenty of previous post here on erratic mouse behaviour etc. and suggestions on how to fix.
