Linuxconf

Hi all,
I'm really new at Linux and in fact just installed 5.2 from the box. I'm following through the installation process and have ran into a snag when attempting to run linuxconf. I type in linuxconf from the root and get this in reply:
"remadmin(GUIfrontend)exiting abnormally"

Anyone help this green newbie. Yes I'm reading.

Are you typing the command in a xterm in Xwindows?
Linuxconf only works in Xwindows.

it does??? I'm sure I've used linuxconf from a console before, many times. Anyway I'm giving debian a bash now, it doesn't appear to have all of those nice GUI configuration utils... hehe.
