Hi, just wondering if BBox can be installed with fresh installation of Mandrake..without Gnome. I understand that I won't be able to use many of the Gnome Apps out there, but I'm sure that someone will come up with a patch of somesort.

Of course not, blackbox is a window manager in and of itself, independent of anything else. You can run it by itself without Gnome.

You can use Gnome apps (KDE too) in Blackbox as long as the required libs are installed.
How would you disable Gnome and just run BBox?

make a file in your home directory called .xinitrc (with the period) in the file enter the following:
exec blackbox
that should do it now when you type startx
