xinitrc resources???

can anyone point me in the direction of anything to help me write my xinitrc file?

Are you sure you mean xinitrc? There isn't really anything to write for that. It usually just has a line or two to start the window manager. If that's what you're looking for, there are a whole bunch of examples in /etc/X11/xinit/
