What are everyone's thoughts on Enlightenment?
Was thinking about switching from KDE2.1 to E... (someone reccomended it)
What am I likely to miss? What does KDE offer that E doesn't? What's the difference? What's you guys' thoughts on it?
also... is it coded in GTK?

E is fantastic! It looks great and it is more functional than any other desktop. You can configure every aspect to suit your style. ....Ok I have been using E for 2 years now. I love it. E can run both kde and gnome programs with no problem, however it tends to consume alot of memory. But so does KDE. Try it out and work with it awhile and you may or may not like it. I use it for work on a 500PIII with 256ram, at home on my 233 I use blackbox.

That's sick - Why would you want to use that when it looks like windows? That was a joke right? {:: :eek: :eek: :eek: ::}

Actually, I've been thinking about replacing windows on my sisters' computer with linux and see how long it takes before they notice :) All they use is msn messenger and ie, and both can be replaced by the right apps with the right themes.

I switched to E the other day to check it out (I like the Gnome interface) and thought it was very nice looking...but that's as much as I can say about it. I couldn't use the RHN up2date in the shell (it was missing from the menu) and how the menu system worked gave me a headache (click anywhere and it will scroll out, if near the bottom it will move it over and up and move the mouse with it). It is nice but it would take a lot of getting use to for those of us that have been using windows for the last 5 years. But I degress, it is nice I just need more functionality in my desktop manager (but I do most of the system stuff in CLI) :D
