Mmmm I've got a P100 with 16mb RAM until now i've only used the console.

Now, I was wondering is it possible for me to run a windowmanager (GUI). If yes, which one, and what are the best swap file settings for my configuration (oh yeah, btw... i've a 1 MB videocard)

I would be very happy with a good answer,

Greetings,

Olli

pwm and ion are pretty low on ram. pwm looks like BeOS a little and Ion can be used without a mouse

A couple that come to mind are Blackbox (http://www.math.psu.edu/raven/blackbox.html) and UDE (http://udeproject.sourceforge.net). Blackbox is the more feature rich/attractive of the two, but both are fully functional (paging, menus, etc.)

Blackbox doesn't consume much ram but it looks good and has many of the features you would expect a window manager has. The most minimalistic out there is probably wm2, it doesn't have icons or popup menus and it's not configurable... but it's small.

I have been running blackbox on my machine which is a Toshiba laptop - p90, 16Mb, 1Mb video. It runs fine but it is a bit slow to start up netscape - but that is netscape's fault.
