IceWM and backgrounds

I'm using icepref to try to get a background to show up in Ice. The image doesn't show up when I restart and startx shows this error:

icewm: Warning: Load pixmap /home/kenshi/pics/kenshin-heart.jpg failed with rc=-2

There are also these two errors many lines up:

pex5.so: Unknown error loading module
xie.so: Unknown error loading module

I don't know if they're relevant or not. I'm using Debian unstable. Can anyone shed some light on the matter?
