How can I set IceWM to use the brushed metal theme as the default at login? I'm using Mandrake 8. It defaults to the first theme listed (blue something).

I copied the file: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icewm/preferences to ~/.icewm/preferences Then just edit the file and un-comment the Theme= line and put your choice there. cga 06-24-2001, 09:48 AM That's exactly right. Or you can use one of them there fancy GUI conf. things. You should have copies of the toolbar, winoptions, preferences and menu files in your home directory. That's where you tweak the configs. cage47 06-24-2001, 09:35 PM Thanks, actually all I had to do was uncomment the Themes line in the file in /usr..... There's no .icewm directory in my user dir. But when I did that Brushed metal comes up default. KDE is good for full stuff but for heavy use I like jumping to Ice for low cpu usage. Besides, I cheesed out KDE (not sure how but it had something to do with some bad e-mails) and I was able to jump into Ice and fix KDE Had to dupe a couple directories from another user. cga 06-24-2001, 10:03 PM You should make a .icewm file in your home directory and copy the config files over there. That way your global config files can be used as a default backup. Besides, I think it is good practice to put copies in the home directory for tweaking. But whatever works for you. Enjoy iceWM. I use nothing else, aside from console. LiNuts 06-25-2001, 09:29 AM Originally posted by cage47: <STRONG>How can I set IceWM to use the brushed metal theme as the default at login? That's the lazy way though... justlinux.com
