I'm running Mandrake 8 with KDE and somehow my screen got all messed up. The screen works fine until it boots into KDE, that's when it changes resolution and I can't see a thing cause it's all distorted.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to change resolutions or enter a safe mode (like windows)? If not how can I resolve this? I've tried ctrl-alt-delete but that brings me to the black screen with tux in the top left corner, it auto logs-in and starts loading KDE.
Thanks for any help!

Did you have to TRIPLE post?
To solve your problem, try this (as root):
ps -A (find those concerning X and KDE)
kill -9 the_pids
xf86config

Sorry about triple posting (I didn't know I did). I knew I double posted but the reply to the first post explained why I posted it a second time.
I can't see to login as root.

in SuSE at least you can use [ctrl]+[alt]+[f1] to switch to console 1 ... probably standard in other distros? ... no X here, just standard terminal text.
KDE resides on [ctrl]+[alt]+[f7] on my SuSE system

If X has detected other resolutions then you can usually switch between them by hitting [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Num+] where Num+ is the + key on the numeric keypad. Or try Num-
If that doesn't work, it may be that X only found one valid window mode. To kill X hit [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Backspace], and then when you're in a terminal run X -probeonly to see what modes it thinks are OK.

use windows 98. It never has a problem with KDE! :D :D
